Vis Island is a small island which is a part of Croatia in the Adriatic Sea. With a population of 3.617 people in 2011, it can be said that it is not a populous island. However, it does not keep the island from being a popular tourist attraction. In the late 19th and early 20th century, the island was known for its fishing industry. However, its economy is now based on mostly tourism as well as agriculture. Covering an area of 90.26 square kilometers, the island can only be accessed by ferry.
